How often should you paint the interior of your house?
It depends on many factors, and sometimes these are decor based.
JXF Painting Services (on of best toronto painters) has been a Toronto painting contractor for the last twenty years. There have been quite a few changes in the manufacturing of paints making them more durable.
Hallways and corridors
As the walls here see a lot of wear and tear it’s recommended to paint these areas more often. If the paint that was used is a high-quality washable paint, costumers can wash them occasionally. It’s suggested to paint them every 2-3 years.
Painting an adult bedroom will usually last a long time. Bedrooms in contrast to hallways do not see much activity and do not require frequent painting. Children’s bedrooms are an exception. Because these are used as playroom most of the time and they suffer quite a bit of abuse. It is a good idea to use the best quality paint with a higher sheen. Even it’s a good quality paint, wall paint will not last very long. Kids rooms get painted more often maybe every 2-3 years.
Living room and Dining room
Paint in these rooms tends to last longer, the event that we use them quite often. The activities in these rooms tend to be more formal. It is expected that better paint and more prep work is used in these areas since they are used to showcase the decor of a home. Furniture, draperies, floor lamps and plants can serve as a buffer, keeping people away from touching the walls. Repainting these rooms is often accompanied by a complete change of decor. For all of the reasons above, is very common to paint these rooms every five or seven years.
Kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room
These are very busy rooms. The best quality paints have to go here. In a kitchen where there is a lot of cooking and food preparation, you should have a paint that can be washed frequently. We suggest to paint them every 3-4 years.
